the one that sparked it.

This whole thing started from a group art project I made on New Years’ 2011.  The event was to go outside and draw chalk circles in places where people would be standing to watch the fireworks at midnight.

Then they look down and say, “hey look! we’re standing in a circle.”

Seemed cool, turned out to be lots of fun.   We got into doing them anywhere people usually stand — in a phone booth, at the tram stop, at the top of a flight of stairs etc.

Nice weather arrived with a box of colored chalk and things sort of blossomed.

Skylines, horizons, sun-earth relationships, chakras, bodies outlined in chalk, mandalas, woman-dalas, a hunnert dollas, whatevr.

Being outside, getting dirty, meeting people and just sort of like you know decorating the city is what we’re all about.

Summer 2011 rules!!
